报告简介：This report centers at the “variability” characterization and its modeling, analysis and design (MAD) issues. It explains that, “variability” is one of the key defining characteristics of Big Data. Then it introduces the basic ideas of fractional calculus and its connection to heavy-tailed distributions that is the root cause of “variability”. It therefore suggests “fractional order data analytics” (FODA) for studying big data.
报告人简介：陈阳泉1998年于新加坡南洋理工大学获得博士学位。现任美国加州大学默塞德分校工程学院教授，机电一体化，嵌入式系统和自动化实验室主任。主要研究方向包括可持续性机电一体化、认知过程控制、基于小型多无人机的协同多光谱“个人遥感”、控制中的分数微积分应用、建模与复杂信号处理;采用移动执行器和传感器网络的分布式参数系统的分布式测量和控制。发表SCI论文200余篇，持有美国专利10余项，十多篇论文是该领域的ESI高被引论文。目前已出版10多本研究专著和数本教科书。他的Google学术引用超过23000次，ISI引用超过6000次，ISI H指数为41，Scopus收录论文614篇，总引用次数10838次，H指数为52。2018年和2019年，陈教授被Clarivate Analytics列为高被引研究人员。
